Place2Give Year End Report
It is my pleasure to share the first year of giving through Place2Give Foundation and the ongoing work of Dexterity Consulting. I developed this platform with the purpose of helping organizations connect with donors in a more strategic way by profiling the way that people give and the way that organizations implement programs, and then helping donors find their "charity match."
Here are some highlights:
- Average week we have 700+ visitors researching 2 charities
- At our peak (during the Southern Alberta Flood) we had over 4,000 visitors to the website
- Over $1.1Million was processed through Place2Give and 40 charities were funded (see list below)
- Average donation is $209
- We have received updates from over 80% of the organizations supported
- Majority of our donors chose to be anonymous
- Place2Give charity data is shared with private family offices, small and medium sized businesses (typically family owned), multi-national companies and national financial firms (private wealth managers) to assist in funding decisions and charitable giving strategies
- In addition to the Place2Give Foundation, Dexterity Consulting facilitated in matching donors to charities with an approximate value of $100,000 through the creation of, and increased donations into, Community Foundations (Banff and Calgary Jewish Community Foundation), a gift to the Sir Jack Lyons Scholarship for the Arts fund at The Banff Centre, and several smaller anonymous donations.
- Place2Give General Administration $223,197. Much of these costs were associated with getting the foundation started and processes in place.
- Rent
- Salaries
- Legal & Accounting
- Bank Fees and Fund Management fees
- Online Processing Fees
In our early days of the foundation (January 2013-September 2013) we had a partnership with the Benefaction Foundation to process our online donations. In September we turned on our own payment gateway. It was also in September that Place2Give integrated US charities (501c(3)). We work with the Tides Foundation to process donations for US donors to Canada, and Canadian donors to the US.
We will be conducting a formal audit and posting those financial documents upon completion.
