Event to help non-profits benefit from their data

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 14, 2014

Calgary, Canada – Dexterity Ventures Inc., in partnership with the Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations (CCVO), Data for Good and Propellus, is helping charities learn how to use data to make more effective decision by putting on a half day summit: Getting Value Out of Your Data.

Non-profits are gathering increasing amounts of data about their own organizations’ programs, donors, and trends. How they use this information internally and externally can have profound financial and social benefits. Taking place on September 17, 2014 at the Kahanoff Centre, the half day summit will help participants learn about:

  • strategies for determining the types of data that are relevant
  • approaches to deriving maximum value out of their data
  • techniques for effectively capturing and storing data
  • tools for conducting data analytics and visualization
  • methods for provisioning data and making it more usable

Though summit participants are asked to be familiar with their organization’s strategic plan and/or business plan, it is geared towards participants across the full spectrum of technical abilities that deal with data. It will be ideal for the non-technology folks who have, or will have, close interaction with data that is gathered and used within an organization.

“Over the course of building out Dexterity Ventures and Place2Give.com I realized there was a significant gap in knowledge and capabilities facing non-profit organizations as technology became more ubiquitous in their daily operations” says Gena Rotstein, CEO & Founder of Dexterity Ventures Inc.
“By linking with Data for Good, and the other two capacity building agencies, CCVO and Propellus, we are able to leverage our individual strengths to further support the organizations that form the fabric of our communities.”
