TechVibes: Calgary Startup Place2Give Creates Online Relief Fund to Facilitate Donations for Alberta Floods

in

Place2Give has created an online relief fund that facilitates donations to local and grassroots charities aimed at assisting Albertans with the aftermath of recent floods.

The Southern Alberta Emergency Relief Fund so far supports nine charities:

• Calgary Police Foundation

• EMS Foundation

• Foothills Search and Rescue

• Servants Anonymous

• Rotary Club of Canmore

• Calgary Drop In Centre

• Federation of Calgary Communities

• Alpha House

Place2Give was founded in 2011. It's an aggregator of charity big data, providing charities across Canada with a platform to talk about what they do and matching them with the donors that are best suited to their mandate.

Donors can designate their donations to a specific charity by clicking on that charity's donate button or select Place2Give Fund for their team to direct the donation to areas of greatest need. Place2Give Fund is managed by the Benefaction Foundation and tax receipts will be issued directly upon donation.

The Canadian startup says that FirstEnergy Capital has pledged to donate a minimum of $100,000 to the fund.
